Homemade “Fruit on the Bottom” Yogurt

We all know how healthy yogurt can be for us, for our gut, and overall health. But when I browse the selection of flavored yogurt at the grocery store I’m often times turned off by the ingredients and the sugar content. I’m not a huge fan of plain yogurt either so I have come up with a way to have the best of both worlds. Home-made fruit on the bottom yogurt made with plain yogurt, fruit, nuts, and seeds. It’s fantastic, filling, and healthy!

1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (I prefer wild Maine blueberries)

8 ounces plain yogurt (dairy, non-dairy, greek, whatever you enjoy!)

Sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg

Chia seeds, hemp seeds, flaxseed, or nuts (walnuts, almonds, etc).

Fresh fruit (chopped apples, banana, berries, etc)

  1. Place frozen berries in the bottom of a microwavable mug. Microwave for about 1 minute. You want the berries completely thawed and very juicy.
  2. Top with plain yogurt and gentle swirl together
  3. Garnish with cinnamon and/or nutmeg, seeds and nuts as well as extra fruit.
